Biography
Marianne de Ridder began drawing and painting while creating collages and layouts for weekly and daily newspapers. At the time, she worked at an advertising agency. Initially, she painted with poster paint and later with oils. Her painting was primarily figurative: portraits and landscapes commissioned by private individuals. Several landscapes were purchased by an art dealer in Amsterdam.
Besides painting, she also did design work for musicians. She designed promotional materials for the band Total Touch. For several years, she did design work for Trijntje Oosterhuis and was responsible for the fan club magazine of the band Total Touch: text, photo editing, composition, layout, and DTP.
In early 2003, she began painting with acrylics. After hard work and experimentation, she discovered her own unique style. This time, it's abstract and semi-figurative, incorporating many color blends and mixed techniques, which she has developed herself. Her style is primarily lyrical/expressive and surreal. She uses five basic colors, which she mixes on the canvas. This creates a unique composition and atmosphere on the canvas, stimulating the imagination and revealing a world where natural elements and figures come together in harmony, sometimes in bizarre shapes and colors.
Marianne exhibited regularly and successfully. Buyers were very enthusiastic about the colors and composition of her paintings. The paintings come in various sizes and are available with or without a frame and passe-partout.
